* Standing water signs. This is very common to every household. If you see standing water in your area there is a great possibility that something is wrong with your gutter or you sewage system.

* Water meter inspection. Another way to know if there is a problem in your water is that if the meter reading is different after an hour of turning it off and turning it on again, you are definitely having a water leak problem. Look for that and check every part of your house for the leakage.

* Appliance check-up. Make sure that your appliances utilizing water such as air conditioning system, washing machine, dishwasher, water heater and coffee maker and so on do not have any rust in it for this may create a serious problem in the future. Rust in the appliance may prevent the smooth flow of your water which may cause leakage soon.

* Gutter assessment. You may not have any leaks in your house but once your gutter starts to leak or overflow; there is a great risk of the water to go into the direction of your house.

* Go check your basement. In most cases we tend to neglect the hidden part of our house which is the basement. Some overflowing water goes in the direction of your basement without you knowing it. Once you smell something unusual and see something rotten, there is a water damage problem out there.

* Check on the closet. Mostly, water heater is installed near the closet and the possibility of leakage is very high. Check also if the water heater is working properly.

* Be observant in your surroundings and make your senses work. Check if there is a stale odor that you can smell. See if the wallpapers are still intact against the wall. Feel the humid temperature of the climate.
